Turtle in Coffee Cup Reading
A symbol of patience and protection; it describes a process that moves slowly but surely, and gains that last.
Meaning
In coffee cup reading the turtle is the symbol of patience. When it appears in the grounds as an outline with a round shell and a small head, it is read as what you are waiting for coming slowly but surely.
Traditionally the turtle means delay, but not loss. The process takes longer, but you get where you are going; whoever rushes falls behind, and whoever moves patiently wins.
The turtle's shell stands for protection. It is read as you being able to protect yourself in a hard period and staying solid even at a fragile moment.
A turtle with its head out of the shell describes being ready to act; a turtle with its head drawn in shows you protecting yourself and closing off right now. In the second case the reading asks for a little courage.
The turtle is also linked with long life. That is why it describes lasting gains, long-term investments and things whose value grows over the years.
The turtle's warning is too much slowness. Some readings see it as waiting longer than necessary on something, withdrawing into your shell and missing the chance.
By position in the cup
A turtle at the bottom of the cup shows a long-term process ripening with patience; one near the rim shows a delayed matter that will soon be settled.
